Spray Tanning With Pale Skin

Did you know that 80% of our clients classify themselves has having pale skin. Recently we attended One Fine Day Wedding Expo where we spoke to over 480 brides over the weekend. The most popular statement was, most brides were considering a glow for their wedding however, they were worried they might turn orange given their pale skin.
Understanding skin types is an extremely important aspect of being a spray tanning technician. We use two categories of analysis to understand our clients skin type.
The first point of check is understanding where they categories themselves on the Fitzpatrick Skin Chart.
The Fitzpatrick Skin chart was created to classify natural pigmentation and it’s reaction to sun exposure.
If you consider your skin type to be “pale and/or fair” you will fall into the classifications of Type 1, Type 2 & Type 3 on the Fitzpatrick Chart.
Type 1
Sun Reaction- Skin always freckles, never tans, always burns and tans
Eye Colour: Light Blue & Green
Type 2
Sun Reaction- Skin usually freckles, burns and peels option
Eye Colour: Usually Blue, Green
Type 3
Sun Reaction- Skin might freckle burns on occasion and sometimes tans
Eye Colour: Hazel or Light Brown
The next stage of classification is understanding your skin tone. Understanding your skin tone let’s us match the best spray tan solution for your skin type and give you, your desired results, we evaluate your veins to understand this better
Cool
If you’re a cool skin type, you have pink undertones blue/purple veins.
Neutral
If you have a neutral skin tone, you will have blue/green veins.
Warm
If you have a warm undertone, you will have green veins.
After understanding your classification, we can then pick the perfect spray tan solution for your skin type.
Clients that sit between our Type 1 & Type 2 Fitzpatrick grading and have a cool undertone are encouraged to use our Tanzola Double Dark 10% tan solution.

Usually we would spray one coat and get you to keep this solution on for 4 hours.
In addition to this, if you’re using our Tanzola Self Tan, we would encourage you to do one coat and keep this on for 1 hour.
