Spray Tanning With Acne Prone and Reactive Skin
Self tanning and spray tanning can sometimes be used to minimise acne scaring and skin inflammation.
Acne is caused by the the face overproducing level of Sebum in combination with dead skin cells. These two aspects combined can cause scene blemishes such as blackheads and pimples- Verywellhealth.com
Sebum does have a positive aspects according to verywellhealth.com it provides the below things for our skin:
- Hydration: Sebum is essential for pliable skin, but the levels of lipids secreted have to be properly balanced to prevent skin irritation.
- Sun protection: Squalene has been shown to protect against sunburn and the damage caused by ultraviolet (UV) rays.
When self tanning and spray tanning with acne prone skin, it’s best to look for products that don’t encourage the addition production of senbum on the face and skin.
Active ingredients that can cause the increased production on sebum can be
- "Isopropyl myristate is a penetration enhancer that allows for increased absorption of active ingredients into the skin," says Zeichner. "Isoprpopyl palmitate is a highly comedogenic emollient ingredient used in some moisturizers." While these ingredients shouldn't affect already inflamed acne, both Roulaeu and de Sousa maintain that they can lead to clogged pores and non-inflamed closed comedones, otherwise known as "clogged bumps."
- Coco Butter- Though it's a rich emollient ingredient that offers great hydration, cocoa butter is often considered to be a comedogenic ingredient that can clog pores and contribute to breakouts.
